The power of wellness February, 7, 2020 Our team arrived by the early hours of a crisp winter morning Wednesday 5th February in the heart of Wembley at the Brent civic centre just outside of the world renowned stadium. The power of wellness: Updates Hey there Sovereignteers, here's an update on just what we at Sovereign Comics have been up to lately, as we march further ahead into 2020 lots of partnerships are being formed under the cover of darkness, which we will bring to light in due course. Meanwhile the team had a very good time making connections at Brent's "The Power Of Wellness" conference. Our team arrived by the early hours of a crisp morning of Wednesday 5th February in the heart of Wembley at the Brent civic centre, just outside of the world famous Wembley Stadium. Our team arrived by the early hours of a crisp winter morning Wednesday 5th February in the heart of Wembley at the Brent civic centre just outside of the world renowned stadium. A spread of tea and biscuits were laid before us as we began to set ourselves up for a show case like nothing the world has seen. The third member of our team Earl Newman our Director of Community Partnerships known for his outstanding work across communities nationwide joined myself and Dean Richards in a conversation about the power of our edutainment approach to social issues, and the progress that could be made from the day’s event. Our banner stood firm and tall as we displayed our first educational comic book on obesity, ready to engage with anyone who dared to stray the path of the Sovereign Knights. Composing ourselves shortly after breakfast, we looked out to the neighbouring stands to see who we might form a sovereign alliance. As the show began, we were taken aback by the collective effort of Brent council, (We have Counsellor Hirani of and Madeline Rose Brent council to thank for the invitation). We heard from representatives of the NHS including Sherwin Mauricio, a sincere and powerful speaker who spoke of the workshops they are providing for young people. We heard Louise Gear, from the women's football association speak about the women's England football team the Lionesses, who spoke about breaking the barriers and rallying support for the most talented rising stars of women’s football in a tournament taking place in 2021 and their hopes for the future of the game. As the show gained momentum and energy was high from thought provoking presentations and informative slides aiding members of the NHS amongst others we began to strike while the iron was hot and began networking exploring the possible synergies we undoubtedly had with the proactive hopefuls in the room Me and my team spoke with teachers from several schools that day, Capital city academy, Park lane primary school, West London free school and an educated teacher named Lander Bosch from Cambridge university. We also had the pleasure of speaking with Raj Nath from Middlesex cricket on his life journey and how he inserts virtues into his young children using the power of cricket. Myself and the team conferred on the success of the event, and the important steps Sovereign Comics will make with our approach of combining fun and education, when two young 16 to 17-year-old girls approached our table. Inquisitive and quietly excited about the publications displayed at our stall. The Super Healthy Comic Is available to buy NOW! They told us that our approach to hard-line issues such as knife crime and obesity was fun and amazing exclaiming that they knew lots of young people who would love our educational comics. As a token of our appreciation we allowed the two young girls to get a read of our yet to be released comic book Metallichron the Sterling knight and the feedback was phenomenal. More and more people began to flock to our table, books were sold, people were happy, and all in all it was a productive day of making new allies. We look forward to seeing Brent again in all its splendour.... another mountain climbed a job well done as myself and the team flew our proud and noble flag high. The power of wellness: Text

Sovereign Amplification Jutsu! February, 29, 2020 The team were invited to Rugby Portobello Trust’s “Amplify” youth centre to break the ice with the young people in attendance there. Sovereign Amplification Jutsu!: News Hey Sovereignteers, it's your friendly neighborhood comic evangelist, Paul Nelson, bellowing “I AM SOVEREIGN!!!" at the top of my lungs and inviting you to join me in the further exploits of me and the team. For those who don’t know, the title is a Naruto reference to having a special skill, something us here at Sovereign Comics are no strangers to. On Monday, 24th of February 2020, the team including Earl Newman, Dean Richards, and myself were invited to Rugby Portobello Trust’s “Amplify” youth center to break the ice with the young people in attendance there. Earl Newman in Workshop Mode. What my team did not know, though, was that Ashton Bennett A.K.A Mr. Imagination himself was going to be there also. Having been to visit the facility already, I knew Ashton would be astounded to see how plush, jam-packed, and full of exciting things Amplify had in store. Entering the building, I was greeted by a key player, coordinator, and good friend Desiree, stylish as ever, adorned in a very colorful head wrap, I likened at the time to a bowl of fruit salad (all smiles). It was clear to see straight away what a vital part she plays at the soul of this remarkable center, as many young people threw themselves at her with open arms and excitement. My stepson, Mr. Imagination, was led away by one of the young people after the signing of paperwork on his behalf, and the tour began. We met the other youth workers and saw the young people in action, playing table tennis, trampolining, and socializing. Super teacher Paul Nelson. We entered the shining recording studio provided by Columbia Records and were thoroughly impressed by the young people's efforts to express their emotions through music, especially at such a difficult time of their adolescence. This struck a chord with me as it was the very same opportunity that was given to me as a youth, which led to my career as a recording artist. All in all, my son and team left feeling that day that we understood where Amplify as a whole was coming from, and we were excited about delivering a taster session of our graphic novel masterclass visual storytelling workshop there later that week. It was Friday, 28th February when the harsh weather of London let up and our team stormed the castle of Amplify. With brimming excitement to deliver our graphic novel taster session, our hope was to impress upon the young people the importance of self-belief, determination, and self-analysis. All skills which contribute to having the right mindset to tell a meaningful story which can positively impact the human psyche. Dean Richards teaching art skills. After a briefing by staff on the running of the night’s proceedings, we were escorted down to the communal space where the brief was extended to the young people. Desiree spoke with authority and commanded the space stressing the importance of respect for the youth workers and youth workshop facilitators; this was both impressive and needed in order to set the space for a conducive environment for learning. I furthered that notion and said that the key to success is to be an opportunist for all the right reasons, I shared that a lot of opportunities such as the one Sovereign Comics are giving are hard to come by. The space was closed and my team and I set up our class in preparation for the young people to enter. It started with excitement and familiar classroom fashion which soon turned into interest and curiosity. The special activities that we set were a first step for the class to analyse themselves and their community with fresh eyes. They learned not only about themselves but also about each other, which proved to be a great success all around. After everything was said and done, we felt satisfied knowing we could make this small contribution by lighting a spark of a special skill amongst some of those who are the greatest hope for change in our society. - Sovereign Amplification Jutsu! | Sovereign Comics
Sovereign Comics in Black History Month Magazine April, 27, 2021 They say everything starts with an idea... and Sovereign comics was just that, it all started with a story that came from rapper turned writer Paul Nelson also known as Phoenix Da Icefire, who debuted in 2009, and whose project entitled “PANACEA” was nominated for an AIM award for best album of 2020. He decided that the concept for a new mythology which hit his imagination like a bolt of lightning was too exciting to keep to himself. Sovereign Amplification Jutsu!: News Being a career civil servant for the cabinet office at the time as well as a creative and entrepreneur in the music business he was ready to take a leap of faith onto a new unfamiliar path.... the world of comics. The first thing he did was call Dean Richards, who at that time was responsible for illustrating covers for Paul’s CDs, and he was absolutely amazed to hear he was onboard, for without him nothing would have transpired in the summer of 2011, fate had surely intervened. Little did Paul know, Dean had been working in the fields of visual media for years at the time, not just for illustration but also 2d and 3d animation, digital film making, visual effects and script writing. With illustrious credits in feature films and having provided storyboards for many commercial agencies including BBC, ITN, and Saatchi and Saatchi... this was all set to be a creative match made in heaven. Dean: “At the time I had been making my own comics, but the raw story writing skills that Paul demonstrated impressed me enough to want to collaborate on this new project. It was clear he had a natural story telling ability and innately understood how to create a mythology” Stefan Miller, being Paul’s closest friend since the age of 13, and having attended the same secondary school, later joined the team. Showing faith in the would-be script writer and adding his own 8 years of experience in drafting and handling contracts. The Sovereign Comics team immediately expanded. Our Education Plan Our approach to education in general is edutainment. We started working on the PSHE curriculum (Personal, Social, Health and Economic education) by firstly tackling obesity in our “Super healthy comic” which introduces the concept of eating a balanced diet in a fun way that both parents and children can enjoy. We also have an interactive comic on addressing the causes of knife crime and violence called “Super street smart”, which we use within workshops. Sovereign Comics is currently working with Liberty Lines which is a 12 member organisation consisting of a group of young barristers, as well as Paul McKenzie who publicly blew the lid on the county lines issue, in which young children are groomed to take part in the UKs drug trade. Together we are working on both a comic book and an interactive comic to introduce the dangers of county lines to young people, and to help parents guide their children effectively, as well as equipping the schools with the tools to be able to mitigate these occurrences. We aim to touch upon many subjects affecting young people and social issues as we continue to expand our edutainment curriculum nationwide. We know we can improve the chances of our young people and we believe in supporting our communities as a whole. - A celebratory KNIGHT with Sovereign Comics | Sovereign Comics
A celebratory KNIGHT with Sovereign Comics October 17 2019 We join the recently knighted Simon Woolley, has been instrumental in empowering millions of BME (black and minority ethnic) people in the UK to take part and vote, launching the organisation Operation Black Vote. A celebratory KNIGHT with Sovereign Comics: Updates More than two weeks have passed since myself and the team at Sovereign Comics were cordially invited to the celebration of Simon Woolley's knighthood by the Queen of England, courtesy of Rob Neil OBE and his dear friend Abdul Rob, publisher of Black History Month magazine. It was October 11th with just days to go before Simon's ascension to the house of Lords. Prevailing rain and wind could neither stop or dampen this most prestigious occasion in honour and celebration of a true champion of the people. Simon Woolley has been instrumental in empowering millions of BME (black and minority ethnic) people in the UK to take part and vote, launching the organisation Operation Black Vote (founded in 1996) so that their voices could be counted. Woolley has been included in the Black Powerlist every year since 2012. He was selected as one of the Evening Standard's Most Influential People in 2010. Also in 2010 and 2011 he was selected as one of The Daily Telegraph's 100 Most Influential People and in 2012 he was awarded an honorary doctorate for his equality efforts from the University of Westminster. Being the social butterfly that I am, upon entering the celebration I wasted no time meeting everyone, together with the other members of Sovereign Comics in attendance (Earl Newman and Dean Richards). I was introduced to Simon by Rob Neil who I have grown to both love and respect. I shook the soon to be Baron Woolley of Woodford’s hand and showed him some of the fruits of Sovereign Comic’s hard labour, he examined the books I presented to him with analytical eyes and quiet excitement as he exclaimed, "My son is into anime". We spoke about our plans to make our edutainment nationally available, as well as how we plan to engage with youth in a way that has never done before. The kind words of support he gave me simply blew me away. The thought of such an accomplished man taking an interest in what we’ve been creating here at Sovereign Comics took me aback, and I was reminded that he is, and will always be a man of the people and a community hero. Not only a Knight, but the first Sovereign Knight, someone who has achieved true hero status deservingly highlighted by Sovereign Comics. His good friends and peers each commended his success, cried and felt comfortable talking about the glorious struggles which lead to this life defining moment. With all that being said it wasn't hard to see why Simon had much to say about the currency of hard work, dedication, patience and passion equalling to success and triumph. It was as if when he spoke of the "others stepping up" he spoke directly to myself and my team at Sovereign Comics.... This was truly a Knight in celebration. A celebratory KNIGHT with Sovereign Comics: Text
